Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common condition of the hand and wrist that causes tingling, numbness, muscle damage and weakness in the hand and fingers. The median nerve located in the wrist allows feeling and movement to parts of the hand. When too much pressure is on the median nerve, the result can be carpal tunnel syndrome.
One can be predisposed to developing carpal tunnel syndrome due to the anatomy of the wrist and hand although, there are a number of other factors that can contribute. Repetitive patterns of hand use, stress injuries, obesity, pregnancy, hypothyroidism, diabetes, and trauma can also play a role. Fortunately, proper treatments and supplementation can relieve symptoms and restore wrist and hand function.
